Services and Rates

Here you’ll find a breakdown of all services offered by Malevolent Noise Studios in addition to the estimated rates for each service we provide. For specific information, please fill out the contact form to send us a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

At Malevolent Noise Studios, we currently use Cubase Pro 13 as our DAW of choice. This is mainly due to Cubase’s ease of compatibility with MIDI instruments and general workflow. Cubase project files are available as a deliverable at no extra charge upon request.

Mixing – Starting at $10/Song

When you purchase a mixing session with Malevolent Noise Studios, the process starts with client intake. We’ll gather all your information, preferences, and any reference tracks to understand the sound in your head. You’ll send us your individual multi-tracks (preferably in .WAV format) and we’ll begin mixing your song right away. At the conclusion of the Rough Mix, you’ll receive a .WAV file of your mixed track, as well as a detailed set of mix notes (example below) detailing everything done to each individual track.

Mixing includes editing tasks such as replacing drums with samples and re-amping guitars upon request.

We offer unlimited revisions on mixes for two months after the delivery of the initial rough mix.

Rates start at $10/Song for songs up to 60 tracks and 7 minutes or less in length. For any tracks that exceed this criteria, please let us know and we’ll provide a custom, reasonable quote just for you. Mixing a single song under 60 tracks and less than 7 minutes in total length will typically have a turn-around time of 3 business days. For additional songs within the same project, add an extra business day per song.

Mastering – Starting at $5/Song

At Malevolent Noises Studios, we follow the mantra of “record as if there’s no mixing, mix as if there’s no master”. Most tracks mixed with us will not require any additional mastering, as we will discuss your release medium during the mixing process and ensure all file types, sample rates, bit depths, and overall levels are cohesive with the environment you’ll be releasing your tracks on.

If you need your own, pre-mixed tracks mastered, we’re happy to offer this service for you. We typically use a combination of Cubase Pro 13 and WaveLab Pro 12 for mastering services, and can master to various different digital release mediums as well as CD.

Rates start at $5/Song for all stereo masters. If your final mixdown has more than a stereo mix, please contact us. Mastering services will generally have a turnaround of 3 business days. For each additional song to be mastered, add one extra business day.

Consulting – $10/1 Hour Call

Are you trying to curate your own collection of gear or learn how to record and produce your tracks yourself? No problem, feel free to schedule a consulting call with our Owner/Engineer to get all the information you need.

Consulting calls will be done via Zoom for one hour. Calls will begin with an intake process where you fill out a Google Form detailing your information and any problems, concerns, or questions you have to allow us to work on a few solutions before the call even begins. During the call, we’ll discuss whatever you need, taking detailed notes about our entire discussion and providing you with a complete summary of issues and solutions in our consultation notes (example below). We’ll follow-up with you via e-mail after the conversation to assess the plan’s success and tweak the results to get you the end-state you desire.

After filling out the Google Form under the “Contact or Book a Session” tab above, you can expect to receive a follow-up email requesting information on your desired contact method and meeting time within 24 hours.
